In May 1981, a Soviet Jewish family leaves the USSR for the States, taking with them a large number of suitcases full of sundry items. From Moscow toLos Angeles, via Vienna and Rome, Jean-Luc Léon filmed the often humoristic chronicle of the family’s discovery of the West, their wonder and small disillusions through to their final setting in. Ten years later, the filmmaker comes back to find three American citizens. After the wall has fallen, Isabelle and Ilya Lapirov, and their son Innokenti, now known as Ken, return for the first time to Moscow on vacation…
