A little van of the YE family goes the round of the night markets all around Taiwan. They are medicine peddlers called Pao-Jiang-Hu, who sell medicine mixing the shows of singing and dancig. In the country there are various tymes of Pao-Jiang-Hu including Snake Pao-Jiang-Hu popular at the night market, and an old Pao-Jiang-Hu who stands alone on the road with moon guitar as he has always been. But it is not easy for them to make a living. YE family is not an exception. Mr YE, the leader of the troupe does not listen to the suggestion to modernize the show, and it makes his wife worry and complain. His son, A-Hong, is busy dealing with A-Ling, his girl-friend who is an angry run-away. However, he has decided to take over his father’s job, even though he is aware that the future is not promised. Their travel goes on. Pao-Jiang-Hu means “a moving society”.
