Liaropoulos, who studied at the Idhec and was assistant to Henry Langlois, takes a personal view of the plight of Greek immigrant miners. Settled in Belgium, they can afford material goods but cannot rid themselves of the nostalgia for their homeland. Using a letter that a miner sends his mother as a narrative pretext, the film gives us a taste of what life was like for these people, who were doubly marginalised as workers and as foreigners.
