Uprising
I meet Paulo in autumn 2018. Few weeks after, we are together at the heart of the Gilets jaunes protests. The earth trembles as we fall in love. Our momentum joins thousands of others who express their anger in the street, every Saturday, during months. But how reconcile free love and revolution when everything around us keeps us away from it, hurts and represses us ? Uprising tells the story of a love and an insurrection.
Laurie Lassalle is a filmmaker, editor and musician born in Paris. In 2014 she directed I made my own course down the passive rivers, a fiction selected at the Critic’s Week at Cannes. In 2016, she directed I am Gong, a short film made with the association Mille Visages, which was screened in numerous festivals. She’s currently working on a feature fiction (Torino Film lab) and two documentaries Red Forest and Uprising, produced by Les films de l’oeil sauvage.
Trained as a geographer, Quentin Laurent founded Les Films de l’œil sauvage with Frédéric Féraud in 2015. Settled in the Luberon and in Montreuil, the company produces essentially creative documentaries. Quentin Laurent has recently produced or coproduced Overseas of Soa Yoon (Locarno), Aswang of Alyx Arumpac (IDFA), En route pour le Milliard of Dieudo Hamadi (Cannes), Mère et Fille of Jure Pavlovic (Tallin Black Nights) et Le Kiosque of Alexandra Pianelli (Angers Premiers Plans), which cinema releases are planned in 2021.
