Oi Peripeteiai tou Villar

The Adventures of Villar
Les Aventures de Villar
Joseph Hepp
1924 Greece 23 minutes Greek

Restored by the Greek Film Archive in 1991, this is the earliest Greek fiction in the collection. The film is a unique portrait of Athens in the 1920s, as mainly shot on location. Villar chases his sweetheart around Athens, from the neoclassical buildings of Panepistimiou Street, through the Temple of Olympian Zeus and the ancient theatre of Herodes Atticus, to the cosy club at Phaleron.
