In their houses in the old medina of Casablanca, the women cook, clean the house, take care of their families and help each other. They also go to the market and the hammam, exchange gossip with their neighbors and discuss political events they have heard about on television.

Dalila Ennadre

Dalila Ennadre is a Moroccan director renowned for her documentaries on Moroccan daily life. Morocco constitutes its privileged ground. She mainly films women there, among others in El Batalett, women of the Medina (2000) and Je voudrais vous raconter (2005). She directed around ten documentaries between 1987 and 2019. Dalila Ennadre died on May 14, 2020 following a long illness, while working on the editing of her last film Jean Genet, Notre-Père-des-Fleurs (2021), completed thanks to his editor, Catherine Mantion, and his daughter Lilya, with a group of filmmaker friends who were close to her until her last days.
